RIO DE JANEIRO STUDY ABROAD
Rio de Janeiro is an incredible city, known for its lively celebrations, scenic topography, and diverse people. I traveled with a group of masters degree students in architecture, landscape architecture, and urban design to observe public space in an effort to transfer some of the key findings found in Rio to our studio project located in Mesa, Arizona.
With major upcoming events like the FIFA World Cup in 2014 and the Olympics in 2016, Rio de Janeiro is quickly moving towards establishing itself as a world-class city. Our trip had excursions to Maracanã Stadium, the main stadium for the World Cup and Olympic opening and closing ceremonies, Oscar Niemeyer's Museum of Contemporary Art, and the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue, which overlooks the entire city. Overall, the trip was a blast and I enjoyed every minute of it.
